One of the first things on our
agenda was to rent a car and head for a Immigration office so that we
could check in. Pretty silly that we have to do this but Homeland
Security has their ways. So we had to rent a car and off we went to St.
Lucie and Fort Pierce International airport. The Immigration officer
did not want us there any more than we wanted to be there but the law is
the law. Afterward, we decided to treat ourselves to our favorite Cuban
Restaurant, Roberto's Little Havana restaurant in Cocoa Beach. Great
food, friendly people. Nice!
Next we had to replace our failed battery so we planned a
trip to Batteries Plus in Melbourne. Our Stream mates on Chautaue
needed a battery also, so we picked up one for them. John and
Madeleine; nice guys. We had them on our boat and they had us on
theirs. They would leave a day before us heading North on the inside.
Three days ago was Palm Sunday and
we went to the local church for services. Lots of really old people
there so it made us feel kinda young. Service was beautiful and we got
to sit during the reading of the Passion. Next we drove to Harbourtown
in Fort Pierce to meet our friends Connie and Less at the local
restaurant. Food was good but service was not perfect. Older readers
may remember we spent 3 months at this marina in 2005-2006 with SV Moony.
We made another day trip up North to Port Canaveral to get
our "Local Boater Option" card. Another Homeland Security thing. Don't
ask. We had Rodger and Kathy of SV Talisman over for dinner the day
before they left for their northward journey. We first met them and
their pup, Pepper, at Warderwick Wells. They will leave a couple of
days before us heading North.
Bela's parents invited us for a
dinner with the folks on SV Kumbaya. It was a short walk from our deck
to their deck and Bela was there to great us. Don and Ellen had a great
spread and lots of lively discussion continued through the evening. All
good things had to come to an end and we bid a farewell to the gang.
