27 Mar 2006, A Sad Farewell (for a while), 26 45.340 N/ 080 02.670 W

We have been in Lake Worth for for nine days without a weather window! This is almost unheard of this late in the season. There are not many pictures because much of this area is blighted. The closest marina (Riviera Beach) has been sold and so it is getting a bit tired. SV Jule III reluctantly must point her bow North tomorrow. We have a grandbaby which may have to come a month early, and the Admiral says we will be there! There is a four day window on the 'outside' where we can go from here to Wilmington with little pain and little motor. Unfortunately, our boat buddies (SV Moony) will fight their way to the Bahamas tomorrow and Wednesday. Stay tuned for daily updates on our website (www.jule-iii.com)

29 Mar 2006, Riding the Gulf Stream, 29 07.290 N/ 079 37.530 W

Its 0400 ET and I am on watch. We are about 65 nm east of St. Augustine FL. The waves have pretty much subsided, the wind is light and bouncing all over the place, the engine is running, and I am tired. In another 20 minutes, Ann gets the helm. If the wind does not go to the SW, I will get 3 hours of sleep. Right now it is S at 5 knots (sorta). Might get some weather on Thursday. If so, we may have to leave the Stream. We have Xm Radio to keep us company on watch. The 'toy' keeps us up to date on the real-time weather. Not a bad day.
