16 Aug 2007, Heading for NYC, 40 47.350 N/ 073 59.060 W

We left Sunday from Cape May for an overnight passage to NYC
The weather decided to be well behaved during our trip. We left the marina at 0900 after several other boats left our 'well'. The wind was good then bad then nothing as we headed North on the Jersey coast. Our AIS was quite helpful in avoiding the big guys.We motorsailed most of the way up the coast as we wanted to be sure that the engine was working properly. We arrived a little too early in the NYC area so we slowed down a lot until daybreak. Fortunately, we had a favorable tide and we were at the 79th St Boat Basin in no time. Of course we passed the Statue of Liberty! It was a most impressive site. We were tired and we thought it a bit smaller than we imagined.
We arrived at the Basin with Denise and Wolfgang waiting to hand us the mooring pendant. Such service!! We quickly hugged and said our 'things' and then we headed for NYC. These Germans are hard to

17 Aug 2007, Fun in NYC, 40 47.350 N/ 073 59.060 W

We spent three full days in the City where Wolfgang and Denise took us everywhere. We went to Central Park (Bob's favorite), the shopping district (Ann and Denise's favorite), and of course the financial district. Early in the morning we would catch the bus then the subway to our first destination of the day. Rarely would we get back before 1900.
On our second day here, Bob decided that he wanted a pizza. So we headed off for Little Italy by way of China Town. What a change from our area of town on the West Side. People, markets, hucksters, and all in such a small place. Thr faces and languages changed as we migrated from one district to another. Only in New York City!
By the third day we were tired! We went to the Seaport, sat down, and didn't want to get up. Nice place to relax with the old proud sailing ships on one side and the Brooklyn Bridge on the other. Still we head back to the boat and get ready for our trip South tomorrow. So back on the subway we went. Wolfgang and Denise had to use all of their expertise to get us back to where we could get to Subway #1. Excellent navigators!
