It took a lot to get Jule ready for her winter berth. Though Ann is out of the hospital and she has been to the boat, she was in no shape to prepare the boat for the 'hard'. This is the first time in 17 years that Jule has worn her covering. In years past, we were 'adventuring' down south to the Bahamas or the Caribbean. It took the Captain three days to prepare the boat for her cover. Later, Ann came up to Deale to help me add the finishing touches. We said goodbye to her for the Winter. God willing, we will wake up Jule III in mid March for the Fundy trip.
On the way back to Wilmington we decided to take our new RV on her maiden voyage. It was a short trip and we camped for three days at a RV park about two hours away. We bought the RV in June but we had not driven it due to Ann's hospitalization. We named her ... wait for it ... RV Jule III.

RV Jule III is a 2018 25' Tiffin Wayfarer TW with twin beds. It is a lot spiffier than we deserve but it will be fun. Of course the Tiffin will play strong second fiddle to SV Jule III.

Hunting Island is one of our favorite places to camp. We have had almost all of our 4 legged critters with us one time or another. The island was decimated by Hurricane Matthew (Mattie Kay's namesake). The campground has lost forever almost 50% of its sites. Yet we feel blessed that South Carolina put so much effort to bring it back to its old glory.
We met our good friends, Butch and Vicki, at the campsite. They are camping here also. We believe that they enjoy this place as much as we do. Butch and Bob played with fires at night while Ann and Vicki cooked for the four of us. This was Mattie Kay's first official camping trip. We were lucky to see Jinny and JW of SV Over Budget. They gave us the tour of Port Royal town, their marina, and of course OB.
The nights get cold here in December but the sunsets remain beautiful year round. The palm trees survived more often than the hardwoods during Matthew. They are still patching up the beach and appear to be damming up a meadering stream to protect the beach. My untrained eye indicates that it may be damaging the lowlands of the interior. Check out the first of the pictures in the gallery.
