26 Aug 2020, Ann Report 2, 34 06.348 N/ 077 55.902 W

Ann and five weeks in ICU. The doctor said we almost lost her. But the prayers, thoughts, and encouragement of all her family, friends in the US, Canada, Green Turtle, and cruisers of a kindred spirit have rescued her from the brink. She is stable, weak, alert (sometimes), and everything seems to work, including her new heart valve. She is strong enough for the next step, "acute rehab", which will not be fun. If she wants to fullfil her three short term goals of

1. Logan's 1st birthday on 15 Sep
2. Christmas with family and friends
3. A safe non boat trip to Green Turtle Cay to spend time with our friends there.

then she will need to be strong enough for the doctor's approval. I would ask everyone to continue to pray as she goes through this difficult phase of rehabilitation and the hope that everything continues to work for a long, long time. Thanks everyone. (She looks pretty good, doesn't she)

11 Sep 2020, Coming Home, 34 06.348 N/ 077 55.902 W

Ann has almost 9 weeks (7 week in ICU) in the hospital. She coded four times, had severe respiratory distress, heart attack, valve failure, pneumonia (2), blood clots, sepsis, and stuff I still don't know. The next few months will be tough as she needs to build up herself. But it is wonderful to have her back home. We thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, and encouragement through this tough period. Please continue during the healing phase.

Bob and Ann

Time is going quickly. The kids have come to help Mom out with her slow but steady recovery. She is doing well; every day better than the last. We went to the zoo with her and her transporter (bought for the boat). She got to see Logan on his 1st birthday on her porch. Wonderful! More to come.

We got some distressing news before Ann left Rehab: She has primary lung cancer. The future will decide what stage it is, the treatment options, and the outlook. Let's go to October, November, and December...

The first biopsy indicted a stage 1 adenocarcinoma. Radiation is the only option as surgery would reduce her lung capacity to dangerous levels. A second biopsy was ordered in November to confirm that there was no spread. We are now briefly in December where stage 1 is confirmed, radiation is scheduled, and the procedure will be completed by mid January. Let's go back to September now.
