9 Mar 2003, Arrived in George Town, 23 30.590 N/ 075 45.569 W

Well we are in George Town, the end of our southbound journey. Man, there are a lot of boats here. The entrance to Elizabeth Harbor was not well marked, but the Explorer Charts provided the data to navigate the channel(?). Celena and Jule III selected an anchorage almost midway between town and Volleyball Beach. Legend chose a more shallow anchorage near Peace and Plenty.
We arrived during Regatta Week with 400+ boats at anchor. This is the busiest week of the cruising season here. Our anchorage was not that crowded considering the mass of boats (mostly sail). Our anchorage made a dinghy ride to town or Stocking Island equally painful. Thereis always a good chop in Elizabeth Harbor. Or dinghy doesn't go very fast with our Yamaha 3 HP motor so we get wet!

15 Mar 2003, George Town Fun, 23 30.590 N/ 075 45.569 W

We have been in George Town Exuma for 10 days and are having a wonderful time. We arrived during Regatta week (the culmination of the George Town experience) with over 400 boats in Elizabeth Harbor. We anchored in the middle of the harbor and haven't moved the big boat since. Just lazy, that's all. Many of our friends move their boat to the different happenings, but not us. We would prefer to get soaked on our dinghy rides.
Mom brings here van to George Town with fresh baked bread on Monday Wednesday and Friday. We visited her twice. The first visit resulted in wet bread on our dinghy ride back to the boat. We learned! We brought a plastic bag for Mom's bread. She makes it a point to give everybody a hug. Even Bob got a hug.
Last Saturday they had the Cruisers/Locals Talent Show to signal the end of regatta week. You can bet the dinghy dock in town was really, really full. Sand Dollar Man (aka Blaine of S/V Charbonneau) had a big hit with us. The folks from S/V Tawee were also a favorite as they sang "Just kiss my cleat" with a bunch of other cruisers. The local kids performed exceptionally well in a variety of song, dance and poetry.
Speaking of Tawee, Pat and Geoff came visiting a couple of days ago. We had them over for drinks. Our boat is not really built for entertainment (small cockpit, small galley) so we have to invite people over one boat at a time. Tom and Nancy (SV Celena) came over to say 'hi' on their way to Volleyball Beach. We hope to have them and SV Legend over before we leave. SV Charbonneau invited us over to dinner before they left for Long Island (the Bahamas one). Cruising life is tough!
