Time to head home. Early, we left for
the Digby ferry. The two hour drive to Digby was uneventful. We stopped
at McDonald's to load up breakfast before we hopped on the ferry.
Everything was on time, including us. Trip was smooth with light winds
and sunny skies. Two hours later we were back in Saint John.
left Saint John for Saint Andrew where we stayed
the night. Capt. Bob did some exploring checking out where we might
stay during Jule III's '19 cruise; maybe the mooring field.
On our way to the border, we stopped at the
Chocolate Museum in Saint Stephen (Ganong). The three of us really
enjoyed the tour. Poor Mattie had to stay in the car. Of course we had
to buy some product.
Last stop in New Brunswick is the US Customs in Calais
(actually in USA). Not very busy but it reminds us of old times in
border crossings. Took two minutes to receive clearance and then 'back
in the USA'! Only problem is that we were hungry and the closest restaurant was 40 minutes away. Found a nice country retaurant.
Now for the long ride back. Sailing is
easier, just takes longer. Weather turned foul once we left Maine. This
would be the last of the 'monsoon' rains in the Northeast and the Mid
Atlantic regions but a couple of tense days.
Dropped Lilli off at her home. Today we stopped at a rest
area near homeport. The crepe myrtles were in full bloom. Pretty. We
got to the house a couple hours later, unpacked the car, and collapsed.
