9 Mar 2014, First night to ILM, 31 58.308 N/ 080 38.82 W

We left St. Mary's inlet around 0900 today to catch the last of a favorable tide. Wind was light at 5-10 kts/SW and is forecast to be out of the SW during our passage. We will see. We continued east until we were (mostly) out of the Northern Right Whale calving area, then headed NE. We saw the sun sunset while we were still offshore of Georgia. Beautiful night!

10 Mar 2014, Night Two to ILM, 32 59.172 N/ 079 08.358 W

Winds continue to support a rather good motor sail on our second day to ILM. We approached the Charleston sea buoy around noon today where there is quite a bit of commercial traffic. AIS is our friend as we can see virtually all of the big traffic and they can see us also. We see the occasional dolphin and sea turtle but less than during previous passages. It may be due to our early trip North this year or it could be due to reported disease in the dolphin population. Let's hope it is the former.
